It is founded on the simple principle that the social harm accruing to victims is to be proactively addressed without avoidable delay so as to achieve immediate and longer term benefits to both the victim and society.
In partnership with other relevant sectors and role players it operates on a functional continuum -
|
1. Road Crash and Injury Prevention
Since The Road Crash Victims Management
model has a direct interest in the prejudice accruing as a result of
road crashes it is able to consensually devise and implement annual
road safety projects specifically tailored to need, indicated by recent
experience. The experience of the Accident
Compensation Commission
of New Zealand and
the Transport
Accident Commission (TAC)
of Victoria,
Australia proves that this
approach constitutes a very “smart
investment’ for such
an entity. The issue is therefore addressed in terms of a “business minded” approach in cooperation with such other public and private sector entities that have an interest, such as the Police, Road Safety agencies, other State road agencies and insurance houses in terms of “an interested cluster” approach. |
2.
Road
Crash Response
![]() There is a complete consensus that efficient and effective road crash response in critical to saving lives, reducing longer term morbidity, enhancing rehabilitation and - really saving money. The model cooperatively includes all other response and emergency services, e.g, ambulance and air rescue. The commitment by the entity and its partners is to attempt to achieve the "golden hour" in all cases. The higher the incidence of "golden hour", the greater the benefits to humanity and the higher the savings in millions/billions to the State. For an excellent example of road crash response see [RACQ link]. |

4. Life
Enhancement for the Permanently Challenged
Victims who, despite all efforts, remain disabled, receive life long support in their home so as to enhance the quality of life. This includes home alteration, provision of prosthetics and other aids, home visits by social workers and training of family members as care givers. |
